Nonprofit portfolio analytics
Every portfolio has a worst stretch. Most investors never measure it.
Veluma computes maximum drawdown, risk-adjusted return, and correlation from your own trade history — entirely inside your browser. No account, no upload, no fee.

What we build
Four measurements that decide whether a portfolio was actually any good.
Return alone tells you almost nothing. These are the figures a desk would run before judging a track record, and there is no reason an individual investor should have to pay a subscription to see them.
- Maximum drawdown
- The deepest fall from a peak your portfolio has taken, how far it went, and how long it lasted before recovering.
- Risk-adjusted return
- An annualized Sharpe ratio measured against a risk-free rate you choose, so a good year of returns is judged against the volatility it cost you.
- Correlation
- How closely your holdings move with one another, which is where concentration hides in a portfolio that looks diversified.
- Value over time
- Market value at every close since your first trade, with buys and sells applied on the dates they happened.
How it works
Three steps, and none of them involve creating an account.
- 01
Import your trades
Drop in a CSV with date, ticker, quantity, and price. Most brokers export one. Rows that cannot be read are reported by line number instead of being silently dropped.
- 02
Add your own price key
Paste a free Alpha Vantage key. Your browser requests end-of-day prices directly from them and caches the results locally, so repeat visits cost no requests.
- 03
Read the analysis
Drawdown, Sharpe ratio, and correlation are computed from the trades and prices already on your device, and recomputed whenever you add more.
Privacy
We cannot leak what we never receive.
Most portfolio tools ask you to link a brokerage account, then hold that data on their servers indefinitely. Veluma has no servers to hold it on. Your trades are written to your browser’s own storage and read back by code running on your machine.
- Where your trades live
- In IndexedDB, inside your browser profile, scoped to this domain. Clearing site data deletes them permanently.
- What leaves your device
- One request per ticker to Alpha Vantage for end-of-day prices, sent by your browser with your own key. It carries a ticker symbol and nothing about your position in it.
- What we are not claiming
- Browser storage is not encrypted. Anyone who can use your computer profile can read it, exactly as they could read a spreadsheet you left open.
Our mission
Why this is a nonprofit.
A company that gave this away free would eventually need to make money from it, and the only asset here worth selling is the portfolio data. Every incentive would point at collecting more of it. Removing the profit motive is the only durable way to promise that the data stays where it is.
So Veluma is structured as a nonprofit and funded by donations and grants rather than by users. The analytics are the same calculations used on institutional desks, written out plainly and covered by tests, because a number you cannot check is not worth acting on.
Financial self-assessment should not require surrendering your financial life to a vendor.
Bring your trade history. Keep it.
The tool opens straight into an empty ledger. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to install.
